Bliss Pet Services support SAWS

The Sigonella Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) is a non-profit organization that relies on the dedicated, goodhearted volunteers of Sigonella, Italy and the surrounding areas to find loving homes for the animals of Sigonella.

SAWS was established in the mid 2000s and worked with the cooperation of the Stray Animal Facility (SAF) that was operated by Security at NAS Sigonella.  By roughly around 2010, Security shut down SAF and without the support of SAF the Sigonella Animal Welfare Society crumbled to nearly nothing.  There was no central location to house the animals while foster homes or permanent homes were found thus limiting SAWS resources. 

In 2011, new members of Sigonella were unable to sit idly by when there was such a huge stray animal population here so a new board was formed to try to revitalize SAWS. It was a long process getting paperwork in order and getting the organization official again.  But the paperwork is in and beginning in 2012 SAWS is back in full swing.

Bliss Pet Services support SAWS to help them in their noble intentions and find homes for the fantastic animals in Sigonella.

Seattle è la più grande città dello stato di Washington, anche se non ne è la capitale, e conta più di 620.000 abitanti (luglio 2011) che raggiungono quota 3.400.000 considerando l’area metropolitana.

E’ stata fondata nel 1851 da Arthur A. Denny e nel corso del tempo ha avuto vari soprannomi, fra i quali l’ultimo ufficiale è Emerald City (Città Smeraldo) per via dei lussureggianti alberi sempreverdi che circondano l’area della città.

Seattle è un centro importante di cultura nel nord America grazie alla “Central Connecticut State University” che la porta ad essere la più letterata fra 69 grandi città degli Stati Uniti nel 2005 e nel 2006 ed ha avuto il più alto rendimento scolastico con il 48,8€ dei cittadini sopra i 25 anni in possesso di una laurea triennale.

La città è stato un centro molto importante per la musica Rock/Grunge vantando personalità come Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Duff McKagan, il gruppo dei Pearl Jam etc.

Inoltre è la sede natale di Bill Gates, a Redmond nell’area urbana, è presente la sede della Microsoft e fino al 2001 era la sede dei gruppi di direzione della Boeing.

La Bliss vi consiglia una visita alla torre Space Needle alta 184.41 metri.

Questa torre è il simbolo più famoso della città di Seattle, è stata costruita per l’EXPO del 1961, ma fu completata nel 1962. Al suo interno sono presenti alcuni negozi di gadget e un ristorante rotante (lo SkyCity restaurant) a 152 metri.

Altri luoghi da visitare sono il Seattle Asian Art Museum ( l’edificio che lo ospita è un monumento cittadino), il Seattle Art Museum, il Seattle Aquarium, il grande mercato Pike Place Market e lo stadio di baseball Safeco Field.
